Despite how other countries combat increasing costs of higher education through government funding, the United States largely shifts this burden onto the students. For the last few decades, the cost of attending college has ballooned disproportionately, leading to it being less accessible for many Americans, even though an increasing number of jobs require a degree. Also, considering the turmoil in today's political landscape, we may not arrive at a solution that works for all Americans anytime soon. In the meantime, students and their families must educate themselves on the various aspects of financial aid in order to best prepare themselves for success.
